Air Soft Enabled Reality-Based Training

JB Training LLC offers Air Soft enabled reality-based training. We can provide our students with semi-automatic gas powered Air Soft Glock, SIG, Beretta, or 1911 training pistols that shoot 6MM plastic pellets. Some models of Air Soft Pistols are available for purchase by students.

Features of Air Soft Pistols
The Air Soft semi-automatic pistols we use are as accurate as their counterpart center fire pistols at self defense distances. They have the same look, feel, and weight as the real pistols, handle exactly the same, and fire as quickly as their real counterparts.  The 6MM plastic pellets used in these training pistols will penetrate a cardboard target thus providing the same feedback on shot placement as would be obtained through the use of live ammunition.  When used in Force-on-Force training the pellets will sting so you know you have been hit.  Use of proper safety equipment is necessary when shooting Air Soft pistols.

Cost Effective
Just how cost effective is an Air Soft pistol?  Retail costs for semi-automatic Air Soft pistols range from around $100 to as much as $200 depending upon the type of pistol.  The cost to purchase  5,000 pellets is as low as $10.  Add another $2.50 for a propane bottle, $5 for silicon oil to use with the propane plus a $10 propane bottle adapter or $10 for a can of green gas and one is ready to shoot their own Air Soft pistol. Given today's ammunition costs Air Soft costs translate into a significant ammunition savings for our students. It does  not take much ammunition to equal the money spend on an Air Soft pistol and its related equipment.

Excellent Training Tool
Our students find that  training performed with the Air Soft pistols directly translates into skill with a comparable centerfire pistol at  a fraction of the cost.   Use of the Air Soft  training pistols provides our  participants with opportunities to learn and practice shooting techniques, shooting positions and holstering and reholstering techniques under safe circumstances.  Using our Air Soft pistols also exposes our students to a highly cost effective training tool that they can use for self-directed training once they have completed our courses.  Many of them go on to purchase an Air Soft pistol   for use in their self-directed training.

Safety and Realism
Air Soft pistols are a proven safe method for teaching our course participants the skills needed to cope with a real gun fight. There is no substitute for learning how to defend yourself while someone is shooting at you.  Being hit with a 6MM plastic pellet will sting but it will not cause permanent harm provided  the proper safety equipment has been used.  However, when  someone using an Air Soft pistol shoots at you and scores a hit you will feel the sting from the hits you are taking.  This experience will be as close as you can get to what it feels like to be engaged  in a real gunfight.

Learn What Works and What Does Not Work
In our Force-on-Force courses students quickly learn what actually works and does not work in a real gunfight.  Most of our students are surprised at how little of the work they did on the range in live firing translates into what they need to do to survive a gunfight.  Our realism-based pistol training courses have been specifically designed to provide our students with the techniques and tactics that they will find useful in the Force-on-Force classes. Since we know what works and what does not work, we do not teach techniques and tactics that will fail in real-life attacks.
Equipment
Holsters that fits our Air Soft training pistols are available and are  provided upon request.  Students who have comparable centerfire pistols as the Air Soft models mentioned above can use their own holster if they desire.   A limited number of alternative retention devices such as pocketbooks, fanny packs, day planners, or briefcases are available for those participants who do not plan to use a holster when they carry a concealed handgun.  Students who decide not to use a holster will train with their selected retention device. Students are allowed to use their own Air Soft type gas operated training pistol if they own them.  Depending upon the course being taken, appropriate safety equipment is used to ensure vital parts of the body are protected. Walmart sells face masks, safety glasses and shooting gloves for those students who wish to purchase their own equipment. We rent all of the needed equipment as well.
