A cost effective way to spend your money and make an informed purchase decision on concealed carry equipment is to take our Equipment Selection for Concealed Carry course.
This a one-on-one course that is scheduled upon request. The class ranges from 2-4 hours in length.
Course cost is $25 for a non-shooting class.
If you want to shoot various handguns there is an addition cost of $15 to cover the cleaning of the handguns when you choose the shooting option plus a $10 range fee payable to Oakwell Armory to use their range for the shooting.
Frankly with either option this is one of the best bargains you will find to help you decide what to buy for concealed carry. Handguns, holsters, and ammunition are expensive. Make the right choices and save yourself some money.
We often see students taking our courses who have purchased a handgun that is simply not a good choice for them.

We will help you develop answers to the above questions.
The Equipment Selection for Concealed Carry course is a hands-on course where the participants will have an opportunity to see and handle specific examples of the various choices available in each category. Examples of the most common pistol selections will be available as well as all of the popular choices for holding a concealed firearm including holsters of all types, on-body carry options, fanny packs, purses, notebooks, and briefcases.
We discuss and show different types of self defense ammunition and provide you with an understanding of "stopping power" potential of various cartridges. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions regarding how a choice might meet their specific needs.
You have two ways to take this class. The first is to simply take it as a non-shooting class. You will get to handle multiple types of handguns and will receive instruction on how to select the one that is right for you.
The second choice is to choose a shooting option. This option covers the same information but now you will be able to actually shoot the handguns that appear to be in your final selections. There will be an additional $10 cleaning fee that will cover the handguns you shoot. In addition you must provide the ammunition that you shoot. When the live-firing option is chosen you will receive a training certificate that meets the Florida training requirements for applying for a Concealed Weapon and Firearms License. When you choose this option the course will last at least four hours.
