Rifle Shooting Fundamentals

Learn the basics of handling and shooting rifles.  This is a course designed to introduce the participant into the world of rifle shooting. No previous experience in handling rifles is necessary. A variety of rifles will be shown during the class and they will be available for use in the class.

Course length is 6-8 hours.

Course cost is $75 for one participant and  the multi-person rate is $50 per each additional person. Participants must purchase a copy of Florida Firearms, Law, Use and Ownership Release 7 for $27.  This requirement is waived for participants who already own this release.  This book is used in the legal lessons part of the course.

Participants are expected to use their own rifles.  If they use a rifle by JB Training LLC there will be a $10 cleaning fee for each rifle that is shot by the participant. 

Participants must supply their own ammunition.  Most of the shooting will be with 22 caliber rifles. However, rifles in 5.56MM (223) will be available for shooting as well. 


AR 15 Rifles
Learn the basics of handling, shooting and maintaining an AR 15 rifle. Course lessons are similar to those in Basic Rifle but all of the material is specific to the AR15, M4, and M16. The shooting exercises are designed to teach the use of an AR15 in defensive situations appropriate to civilian use of the rifle including shooting from cover and using movement to acquire better positions.

Rifles that are shown in the class include:
  • Colt AR 15 (iron sights + EoTech reflex sights}
  • S&W M&P 15-22 with iron sight and reflex sights
  • S&W M&P 15 with iron sights and red dot sights
  • Ruger 10-22 with AR15 style iron sights

Course length is 6-8 hours.

Course cost is $75 per person, Multi-person rate is $50 per each additional person.

Participants must supply their own ammunition.  Most of the shooting will be with  rifles in 5.56MM (223). All of the above rifles will be available for shooting as well.  The Ruger 10-22 and M&P 15-22 use 22 long rifle ammunition. If the rifles being used are supplied by JB Training LLC the ammunition used in those rifles must be purchased from Oakwell Armory or approved by the instructor.



AK 47 Rifles
Learn the basics of handling,  shooting,and maintaining an AK47 rifle. Course lessons are similar to those in Basic Rifle but all of the material is specific to the AK 47 and the SKS. The shooting exercises are designed to teach the use of an AK47 in defensive situations appropriate to civilian use of the rifle including shooting from cover and using movement to acquire better positions.


Rifles demonstrated during the class are:
  • AK 47 in a tactical configuration with optics
  • AK 47 in a  mostly standard configuration
  • SKS in a tactical configuration


The  AK 47 rifle courses will last for 6-8 hours. 

Classroom instruction and live firing is included.  Participants will fire between 100-200 rounds during the firing drills. Participants must supply their own 7.62 X 39 MM ammunition.  Rifles specific to the course will be available for use. If your rifle is not used  the ammunition that will be used in supplied firearms must be purchased from Oakwell Armory or approved by the instructor.  A $10 cleaning fee will be charged to use course supplied rifles.  AK 47 ammunition can be purchased at Oakwell Armory.


Cost of each course is $75 per person, Multi-person rate is $50 per each additional participant person.


Rifle classes are currently taught on a request basis.
