What is Reality-Based Handgun training?

Reality-Based Handgun training  teaches you:

  • How to minimize your chances of  being shot, stabbed, or struck when you are being assaulted so you can survive the initial assault and fight back.

  • How to counter violence that is directed toward you with sufficient violence to end the assault.

  • How to shoot and hit what you are shooting at by training with tactics and shooting techniques that work in real assault situations.

  • How to shoot accurately under the conditions and distances that are likely to be encountered in real assaults.

What does conventional  handgun  training teach?

If you want to see the results of conventional training in action go to almost any range and watch the shooters practice firing  at their targets. The following is what you will observe.

  • People standing  and delivering" sighted shots using as many as three competition-based shooting stances.

  • People shooting tight groups in paper targets using standard shooting techniques that are well known in the target shooting and competitive shooting world.

  • People taking their  time (relatively speaking) using precise shooting techniques.

What is wrong with conventional handgun training?

Training that emphasizes  precision target shooting simply does not  prepare you for what you must do to survive an armed assault by a determined assailant who is willing to take your life.

Worse yet it may let you believe you are prepared to deal with an actual situation where an armed assault is taking place.

This is summed up in  the title of the book, "Bulleyes Don't Shoot Back."

Real assailants do shoot back and they are likely to shoot first. Worse yet, they will be trying to kill you. Finally they do not play by any fairness, range, or safety rules.

What Does Shooting At Static
Paper Targets Do For You?

You learn techniques and skills that are likely to get you killed or seriously injured in a real confrontation.

If you do not believe this sign up for one of our Force-on-Force classes and take a class using only your current skills.

In these classes you will face opponents who are armed and who shoot first and also shoot back.  They move and will be trying to shoot you. as much and as often as they can.  This training is done with Air Soft training pistols that use 6MM plastic pellets.
